The Grades Explained

The grades for the routes are based loosely on that of the MBR grading. For magazine routes, the original grade given by the magazine is listed.

For other routes, I have judged the difficulty by distance and total elevation. However, this is not necessarily the most accurate way to describe a route. If you have ridden the trail (with reasonable weather conditions etc.) and believe it needs re-grading, please drop me a line.

GRADE
DESCRIPTION
Gentle routes for the beginner, or just for a quick blast! Doesn't mean they don't contain good bits... just that they don't go on forever!!
Longer than easy routes but not enough to kill ya!
These routes will test both your stamina and your skills.
Routes of epic proportions. With plenty of climbing and miles these are not for the faint-hearted.
Classic routes are not necessarily long or even arduous, but contain elements that make them memorable! They should contain technical sections, twisty singletrack and should generally leave you with a wide grin!!
